Two weeks ago I decided to join in on Lora's MFP challenge, and commit even more to sticking to my calorie goals in My Fitness Pal - and I have to say, it did help me stay out of the red! It didn't make me workout more or eat completely healthy food, but when I was at my limit for calories, I'd stop eating.

Raising Steppe Sisters

There were a couple of days that I went into the red...before dinner even arrived. So what was I to do? I jumped on the treadmill for 30 minutes or walked the dog around the block just so I stayed out of the red (which means I went past my calorie intake for the day). Kind of funny to me...or pathetic. Not sure which.

I haven't lost any more weight... It's not a surprise when I'm still eating hot tomales candy and french fries. It doesn't matter if you stay under your calorie goal when you're eating crap - I know not to expect a loss when I haven't cut out the junk foods completely.

My motivation has been lacking, my eating habits have been lacking, and running has gotten difficult with my knee. I don't know what's going on with it!

I've been considering joining a gym, FitPlus (basic membership is only $1/day), mostly for the use of the elliptical machine. Everyone on MFP knows that Lora has been killing those calories on the elliptical - I don't know how you can do it for 90 minutes, but it makes me want to be able to do that too! I need to just pay for the damn membership...a great post from Kate, she completely mapped out the financial benefits (and the costly aspects of being overweight)!

I also need to do more strength training, and that's only going to happen with a gym membership - I'm not the at-home-situps-and-pushups-galore type. If you've been seeing those Instagram photos from Megan at the gym - doesn't it make you want to go to?! She actually makes it look like FUN.

So I need to get my motivation in gear. No more slacking! I'm going to try finding a knee brace today (maybe it will help?), and then I'll be back out on the pavement! Possible stop at the beach as well, if it warms up!

Also, next Tuesday I'm going to linkup with Mel and Laura, about my Workout/Running Gear. Should be interesting for me - I basically wear old rags. HA. But I'm really looking forward to reading about what everyone else is sporting during their workouts!

It's FRIDAY! Happy weekend!

  3. I had a couple of days in the red. For the most part, I did good with the challenge. I can not say enough about strength training. I wish that I would have started sooner.

  4. I've been slacking too, don't know what the deal is! That's great that it motivated you to do more working out when you were in the red though!!

  5. first off, that 90 minutes is def not the norm!!! lol but I think it was just a gradual buildup combined with me wanting to post it on IG...haha it's def important to find a good knee brace...I have HORRIBLE knees so I can feel you on this. And I am sooooo the same with being in the red before dinner time. it's like I have no choice but to work out. even my husband will be all like "eat it and then I'll walk with you when we get home!" I'm pretty sure that's how I got obsessed with the elliptical...it's like every minute I'm on there gives me more room to eat.

Thanks so much for linking up!!!
